Eastwood Writers was founded in 1985 by the late Pamela Duncan.

We are an eclectic group of 23 writers/friends who meet every Monday from 2pm to 4pm at Clarkston Halls G76 8NE, to write/discuss the written word.

Support and constructive criticism are offered and the set syllabus is designed to cover all genres of creative writing. The syllabus serves as a guideline with weekly prompts. Our membership includes those who have been published, those working towards publication, and also those who write as a hobby.

Eastwood Writers is affiliated with the Scottish Association of Writers (S.A.W.) which enables members to automatically benefit from writing events and competitions curated by the umbrella body. Most notably, the annual conference, where Eastwood Writers have featured regularly on the prize lists. Apart from the competitions, the conference is also an opportunity to interact with publishers, literary agents, authors and like-minded people from other clubs.

Members also benefit from invitations to other writing festivals in and around Scotland, such as the Falkirk Festival, etc.

We hold interactive workshops and invite external speakers throughout the year. We have two internal competitions (The Eastwood Trophy and The Presidents’ Cup), which are judged by external adjudicators. A third competition will be introduced shortly (The Pamela Duncan Award for Poetry).

Annual Fees are £40, payable in the first week of September (and £20 if joining after Christmas).
