In 2026 Perthshire Writers will celebrate its 50th Anniversary, having been established in 1976. Fifty years of creativity, productivity and of course friendships.
We are based in Perth, having our regular meetings at the famous ‘Salutation Hotel’. Our membership currently stands at 25 members. The membership is diverse and spread far and wide across all of Perthshire and also Kinross-shire. We meet every second Tuesday between September and April.
Recently we have published ‘A Pocketful of Perthshire Vol 2’ containing 82 pieces of poetry and prose contributed by our membership. This is in fact the eighth anthology we have published over the years.
Until Covid visited us we showcased our work to the public each year. Entitled ‘Pocketful of Perthshire’, it was an evening of readings and music presented by our members. It is hoped that the event will be rekindled in 2025/26.
We are delighted to have been affiliated to the Scottish Association of Writers for many years.

The Murray Room is on the first floor of the Salutation Hotel, immediately on your right as you reach the top of the staircase beside Reception. If you’d prefer to use the lift, there’s one down the corridor to the left of the staircase, with doors opening immediately opposite the room.
